The Control Governance Team supporting the Retail Risk MPG (Monitoring, Process, & Governance) mission is a passionate and dynamic team of risk professionals focused on enhancing the risk profile of our Retail Bank and Premium Products business through execution of mission-critical risk, process, and control programs. We are seeking an inquisitive and organized team player to join us as a Senior Risk Associate. As part of this horizontal 1st Line risk management function, this associate will have the unique opportunity to become a subject matter expert in the processes and controls across specific business areas within our Retail Bank , Premium Products, Capital One Shopping and Enterprise Payments organization. Day-to-day, this associate will be working with business and risk stakeholders to govern control changes and build. The associate will also assess design and operations of control activities for ad-hoc business support including consultation and improvement initiatives. This role involves understanding of risks, requirements, controls, and corrective actions review and evaluation.
Responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to :
Engage and advise our business and risk partners on how to design effective controls in our control environment related to business risks in addition to regulatory and internal policy requirements.
Partner with vertical risk managers to perform an analysis of risks and requirements and their association with the control
Identify and assist with remediation of identified gaps in our control environment due to regulatory and internal policy updates.
Support control and process documentation creation and revision, including version control
Serve as a SME for compliance controls, troubleshooting control questions and issues, ensuring adherence to regulations, and maintaining detailed documentation
Monitor multiple processes to ensure they meet the needs and intent of the business; sharing reporting and consistent updates to leadership
Identify and drive improvements that streamline, automate, and reduce risks of processes that would improve internal/ external customer experience
Exhibit creative thinking and problem solving skills to achieve desired outcomes, by bridging gaps, improving and clarifying needs and/or providing appropriate solutions that are scalable, standardized, and operational ready
Furthering the Well Managed agenda within Retail to drive sustainability, amplify simplification & automation, enable ownership & accountability through transparency, and strengthen the control ecosystem
Possess strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholder groups.
Basic Qualifications:
At least 1 year of Process Management experience
At least 2 years of experience in Control Testing, Auditing, or Risk Management combination
Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in Project or Process Management
3+ year of experience in Controls Testing or Risk Management
1+ year of experience in Change Management
1+ year of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $94,600 - $107,900 for Sr. Risk AssociateCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
